WoodSafe
WoodSafe® is a new range of biocomposite hazardous waste containers, made in Sweden from 80% renewable residual waste from the forest.
WoodSafe® hazardous waste containers have optimized the mix of wood fibres and polymers with the purpose to meet the requirements of waste containers, according to UN tests, and at the same time minimize the climate impact.
The benefits of wood fibre are its strength, its renewable raw material and the low CO2 footprint.
Hazardous waste containers in different sizes are today a big part of the plastic consumption within healthcare. Besides from examination gloves and disposable aprons, hazardous waste containers are the biggest product in number of tons per year that goes to incineration. According to LCA (Life Cycle Assessment analysis) we could decrease the carbon footprint by 66% just by replacing today’s polypropylene plastic containers to containers made of renewable material.
WOODSAFE - the only, truly environmentally friendly, non-plastic sharps bin in the World
WoodSafe® is a new range of biocomposite hazardous waste containers, manufactured in Sweden from a by-product of the forestry industry.
80% renewable wood-composite material - optimised to replace fossil polymers
66% reduction of CO2 emissions - instant impact - low CO2 footprint
Superior CO2 savings of 61.8% against recycled plastic or Eco products
Wood fibres are sustainable with high tensile strength
Cost effective solution approved to UN3291, ISO 23907-1, ADR and REACH (EC/1907/2006)
Exact calculation for CO2 reduction - independently verified - no greenwashing
Easy to implement
Simply replaces current sharps bins - no high-end upfront investment
Autoclavable and solvent safe
Same workflow and handling as current systems - but with real CO2 emission reduction
Standards and Certifications
UN 3291
ISO 23907–1:2019
ISO 14001:2015
ADR and ADR-S approved o IPCC standard - GWP 2021 100 o REACH EC/1907/2006 (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals)
Smaller (0.5L - 6L) and larger (12L - 50L) sizes integrated with reusable solutions
Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) independently verified to IPCC standard - GWP 2021 100 and to ISO:14040-44 (Series 3 LCA)
